Other Schools Offering Paralegal Training in Nevada

For one reason or the other, you may not be admitted into TMCC or have preferences to undertake your paralegal training elsewhere. There are a number of other schools and colleges that offer courses in paralegal studies even though they are not ABA approved. Before joining a non-ABA approved program, verify that the institution is accredited either by a regional or national education association. Your degree or certificate may not be viable if the institution is non-accredited.

Career College of Northern Nevada in Sparks is a 2 year institution that offers an associates degree in paralegal studies. College of Southern Nevada offers both an Associate of Applied Science degree and a certificate in paralegal studies. Everest College in Henderson is the only institution in the state that offers a Bachelor’s (B. Sc.) degree in Paralegal Studies. The college also offers an Associate Degree and an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies.

Earning your CLA Certification

After completing your paralegal training program, you can seek further certification by taking the exam for your Certified Paralegal (CP) or Registered Paralegal (RP) status. Since the RP certification can only be earned after sitting the PACE exam that demands at least 2 years work experience as a prerequisite, the CP certification is the one to target immediately after graduation as all you need is your degree or certificate before you can take it.

In Nevada, there are two  ACT Testing Centers where one can take their CLA exam: Truckee Meadows Community College and College of Southern Nevada double up as testing centers. You can take the CLA exam there in any one of the three months in which it is offered annually.

It is also recommended that you join the NALA affiliate organization in Nevada –the Nevada Paralegal Association (NPA) because this will give you greater professional credibility and present you with further learning opportunities in your chosen line of work.
